That’s right, thedailysave.com and San Diego Reader Cos. are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Web Designer / Front-End Developer to join our Product team in Downtown San Diego. The Product team develops consumer-facing web sites & mobile applications, ranging from our daily deal platform to iPhone applications. The Web Designer will contribute to the team with their creative prowess and technical expertise, working on multiple projects simultaneously. User experience is their top priority and they can bend a browser to their will. Their eye for detail will be evident in their designs and their code.

Requirements

Significant web design & development experience taking projects from concept to code.
Serious skills in web interface programming, including HTML/XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript/AJAX.
Deep understanding of cross-browser development and debugging techniques.
Comfortable with web programming (PHP, MySQL, Apache, Linux).
At home in a small, energetic and fluid start-up environment.
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).

Pluses

iPhone application development experience.
Experience with rapid & iterative development cycles (e.g., agile and extreme programming).
Passion for innovative products & technologies, and open-source projects.

We are very excited to announce the launch of the next big thing on thedailysave.com: neighborhoods! We always welcome feedback from our loyal users and this was one of our most requested features. We heard you ask for “More deals in my neighborhood”, and we answered the call with local deals just for your community!

Starting today, thedailysave.com will feature 5 deals per day, one in each of the major areas of San Diego (North County Coastal, North County Inland, Metro San Diego, East County and South Bay). Everyday we want to offer a deal that you cannot wait to buy, and we think having them so close to home will make them that much more irresistible.

We’ve even made the transition easy for you, with the help of this quick FAQ all of your questions will soon be answered.

Do I have to create a new login?
No. We’ve moved everything in your account over to thedailysave.com. You won’t even need to change your password. All of your certificates, credits and referrals have also been moved to thedailysave.com. If you had an account on both readersteals.com and thedailysave.com, all of your account information is now in one joint account. How handy is that!?

Are my ReaderSteals certificates still valid?
They sure are. All of your certificates are now in your thedailysave.com account and are valid for their promotional value through their original expiration date. As always, if you ever have a problem with your certificate, just contact us and we’ll do everything we can to make sure you have a great experience.

Why do I have to re-enter my credit card?
Keeping your credit card safe is always our first priority, and so we use industry best-practices to keep it secure. We store your credit card in such a way that once we store it, we can never get it back out, which is good news and bad news. The good news is that if we can’t get it back out then no one else can either. The bad news is that we can never move your credit card information around and so you’ll have to re-enter your card on thedailysave.com.

We wouldn’t be able to continue to offer such awesome deals if it wasn’t for the support of our loyal users. So we just want to thank you for an amazing 2010 and we can’t wait for all that 2011 has to offer.

That’s right, we’ve finally joined 1999 by kicking off our blog. We will be using this space for all sorts of things, from site news and announcements, to random ramblings on all things San Diego. You are welcome to join in the conversation with comments, questions and general feedback.

We’ll also be using our blog to talk about improvements to the site as well as taking suggestions for businesses and features you’d like to see. After all, this is your site and we want you to love it.
